SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE
Georgia Ports Authority is proud to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace - GA, Savannah– a Savannah nonprofit that has built and delivered more than 460 beds to children in need. Over several weekends, GPA volunteers rolled up their sleeves to build and deliver beds to Chatham County families —ensuring no child must sleep on the floor. GPA contributes through funding, resources, and hands-on support, helping Sleep in Heavenly Peace continue its vital mission in our community.

HOUSING INTIATIVE
GPA’s Workforce Housing Initiative focuses on housing improvements for residents of neighborhoods in the vicinity of the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal —prioritizing home repairs for existing neighborhood residents and homeowners. As part of GPA’s community engagement efforts, $6 million is being donated to port communities to support the multi-year, local workforce housing initiative. Read more here.
RIVER CLEANUP
Georgia Ports and partners work together to keep waterways, marshlands clean. Georgia Ports’ Green Team partnered with Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Keep Golden Isles Beautiful to collect trash and debris along the Brunswick River in observance of World Sustainability Day. Teams collected 64 bags worth of trash, nearly 1,600 lbs., including mattresses, metal cables and appliances. Thank you to everyone who participated, ensuring Georgia’s marshlands remain clean and beautiful for all who live, work and visit here.
TRUCKER APPRECIATION
Georgia Ports leaders and partners were out bright and early showing their gratitude for truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Truck drivers entering the Port of Savannah were greeted with hot Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits, bottled water, a new safety vest and commemorative GPA koozie. It’s just one small way Georgia Ports can say “Thank You, Truck Drivers” for all they do to keep freight moving safely and efficiently on Georgia’s highways.
